Internet of Things (IoT):
Whenever we talk about IOT (Internet of Things) we will also hear about IEEE 802.15.4 ,which falls in the Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN) category of Wireless networks. And this category is focused on sensors. Sensors are used for detection, and measuring some physical parameters (Temperature, Pressure etc). Although we are living currently in a time where IOT is going to be a Next Big Thing, but these sensors or WPANs , and the researches associated with energy efficiency was already there , from the year 2001 on wards computer scientists came up with numerous algorithms for the energy efficiency of these sensors, they implemented various meta-heuristic & evolutionary algorithms to improve the energy efficiency. Apart from it we have some mathematical algorithms like the Set-K Cover implemented for the energy efficiency.

We still have sensors in IOT networks that go for sleeping cycles . They do it only to conserve energy. They are programmed to switch from waking to sleeping cycles using various energy efficient algorithms. And that is the reason why the Neigbor Discovery (ND) in 6LoWPAN is a bit different from the Neighbor Discovery in IPv6. IPv6 ND expects all the sensors to be open all the time. But in 6LoWPAN, whenever any node wakes up it registers itself.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) :

A wireless sensor network relates to a group of spatially scattered and dedicated sensors to monitor and record the environmental conditions and then prepare the collected data at a central location.

Computer Networks:

Computer networks are the central basis for communication in the web of computers. They are used in a wide variety of ways and can include many different types of networks. A computer network is a collection of computers that are connected so that they can share data.

Artificial Intelligence:

Well, there are many and varied definitions of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Sci-fi has another conception of AI. The father of Artificial Intelligence, John McCarthy, defines it as

“The science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs”

This is how people thought about AI in its initial phase. Many Experimentation were performed, and with time layers of complexity kept on adding, and this field evolved further.

Professor Patrick Winston, who teaches at MIT, defines AI as Follows:

“it's about algorithms enabled by constraints exposed by representations that model targeted thinking, perception, and action. ”

Discrete Structures:

Part of mathematics devoted to the study of discrete objects Examples of discrete objects include integers, steps taken by a computer program, distinct paths to travel from point A to point B on a map along a road network it provides the math background needed for many courses in CS.
